SQUINT / AMBLYOPIA VISION TREATMENT AT 108 EYE AND HEALTH CENTRE
What is Amblyopia?
Amblyopia is a condition where the vision in an eye fixed is poor because it's not used enough in infancy and thus doesn't develop well. the rationale for this underuse is that this eye has poorer vision than the opposite . In most cases, just one eye is affected, although it can affect both eyes. Amblyopia is usually called a lazy eye. In some cases of amblyopia caused by anisometropia, the matter can sometimes be corrected by glasses. In most cases, however, glasses don't help.
What disorders can cause amblyopia?
Various eye disorders can cause amblyopia. The three commonest causes are:
Squint (strabismus)
A squint is a condition where the eyes don't look together within the same direction. Whilst one eye looks straight ahead, the opposite eye turns to point inwards, outwards, upwards or downwards. this might happen all the time or simply when concentrating or when the attention is tired.
If the eyes aren't straight (aligned), they specialize in various things . The result's that the brain ignores the signals from one among the eyes to avoid seeing double. this suggests that just one eye is employed to specialize in objects and therefore the other eye can become 'lazy' (amblyopic), not getting an opportunity to develop its brain pathways. Most cases of squint occur in infancy - the critical time when the brain is learning to ascertain .

In some children with squint, the vision in each eye remains normal. In these children, the attention that's wont to focus changes from time to time. Consequently, the visual pathways get an opportunity to develop from both eyes. However, in most cases of squint, one eye remains the dominant, focusing eye. the opposite turned (squinting) eye isn't wont to focus, then fails to develop the traditional visual pathways in childhood and amblyopia develops.
